May Newsletter

I want to thank all who participated in Dream Events at the Meadowview Convention Center this past weekend. This was our first year as a vendor and look forward to next year. We are making plans to attend other shows and crops and begin some of our own, which brings us to areas that have requested crops. Two areas that have made these requests are Big Stone Gap, Virginia and Harlan, Kentucky.

On May 16 we will be attending as a vendor for a group of local scrap bookers for “Spring Fest” in Harlan, Kentucky. The crop will be from 10am till 4pm, food provided along with a “goodie” bag, and T-shirt all for only a $5.00 fee. If you are interested in attending please contact Teresa Howard at the Harlan County Extension Office at 606-573-4464 or you may email her at: tghoward@uky.edu Registration is required so they know how many to plan for.

Kendrick’s Creek United Methodist Church will host a Beginner’s Class May 12 at 6pm. This class will be your choice of a page layout. There are 4 different layouts to choose from: Baby Boy, Baby Girl, Heritage and Birthday. The pages are displayed at the church and you will need to contact church office to pre-register, 765-7606. Fee is $10.

Do you love to scrapbook using sketches? Maybe you cruise around the many internet websites hosting sketches. If so, how about meeting other local scrap bookers who share your passion. Perhaps you are intrigued by the concept but haven’t ever used them. In May we will begin a new series of classes based on sketches!

Your host teacher will be Amie Igou, a sales rep for many of your favorite scrapbook lines. She will provide three layouts, one or two pages, along with the sketches, supply list and tips and techniques. In each class you will do a make n’ take based on one of the techniques Amie uses. The best part is you will be using your stash of products to work at your own pace at home to build the projects. Bring your finished projects to share with the class the next month.

Over the course of five classes held May-September you will play and learn new techniques using transparencies, chipboard, paint, glimmer mist, alcohol inks, edged papers and punches, and a host of other products. This class will be fun, informative and no-stress! Even better is the fact you will be cleaning out old supplies you haven’t used in a while and making them new and exciting!
